Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

I am 38 and a father of three (2 girls 8, 6 and 1 boy 3 weeks). I have always made my own decisions so my political views are based on my own experiences. I do not affiliate myself with any political party nor do I consider myself to be a conservative or a liberal. I have been asked to run for office as a Libertarian but I felt my ideas did not follow their party line close enough.
My experiences in life include 11 years of service in the US Army, one year as a police officer, owned a business for 4 years and 4 years as a school teacher. I had a few other jobs in my life but the ones I mentioned had the biggest impact on my life.
During my time in the Army I was fortunate enough to visit and live in several countries. Those experiences have greatly influenced my current political views. I am now pretty set in my political views. I do have a few that I am currently on the fence on. Those may be addressed in later discussions.
I hope to contribute some of my limited wisdom as well as receive some for the members here. I look forward to discussions that will come.

Thanks,
Davey

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Well, I am 26. I am a consultant so I meet a lot of people from all types of backgrounds/opinions. I love hear others' views and challenging them in order to challenge my own. I have been greeted with open arms by a Prince and slapped in the face by the president of an oil company over my opinions as I generally don't sugar coat anything. I don't affiliate myself with a political party as I don't really believe in labels. Labels tend to get people on a one tract mind and they cause people to act like sheep.

Anywho, although I am quite young I have lived with people from other countries my entire life. My family hosted kids, and entire families, each year so I was exposed to many cultures, religions, and customs. The experiences have really helped me see others for who they are rather than what they look like or what they believe. Instead of looking at the lables I look at their ethics, what they stand for. Lately I have been renting a house to families from Lebanon (that is where the Prince comes in) who are here to study at a local war college. It is very interesting to see a 15 year old girl come over here as a child and leave engaged (through an arranged marrage) to a 12 year old Lenbanese student here on a Visa. I was able to talk to her and get her perspective of the situation and the practice.

Well, I think I rambled on enough (I tend to do that).

Howdy. I'm a pro-life libertarian in a red state. Ethnically German by a plurality, hence the choice of flags above. Father of a two-year-old daughter, who has me wrapped around her finger.

As a libertarian, and a pro-lifer, do you advocate government intervention, be it at the state or federal level, to protect the unborn fetus?

I'm pro-life as well, but the most legislation I could advocate would be a federal ban on partial-birth abortion, leaving to rest up to the individual states.

Well, there's no Constitutional basis for it but I still think it's a good idea.

Federal, like all the other rights we protect in the US Constitution.

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!

Hello everyone, I'm a fifteen year old high school student. Debating politics and playing music are two things that bring joy to my life, along with family and friends that is. I'm a huge supporter of the Constitution and the Decleration of Independence. Very few things disgust me more than when American people view the constitution as nothing more than a piece of paper. I suffer from a history fetish. (In a good way).

I really have to say that this website is really proving the the internet is becoming the greatest resource for political activism and free discussion ever.

Welcome.

You'd be on my shortlist as a running mate for the Common Sense party, situated right in the centre where America actually is.
