Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!
Sure. I'm a Stalin admirer. He took a peasant nation and put it through the quickest, biggest crash industrialisation the world has ever seen. To the extent the USSR was then able to absorb the Nazi armour, across a 1,000 mile front, then beat it to a standstill, then roll it back to Berlin. It's highly likely Hitler would have got hold of nukes if Russia hadn't spent 20 million people on shortening the war, plus a long range delivery system. So yeah, all normal, thinking, freedom-loving people should admire Stalin, especially New Yorkers who would probably have been nuked.
Britain recognised all this during WW2, with Russians lauded as national heroes. It was only later they become the Big Red Bear. Are you not a fan? ![]() |

![]() Welcome...I've already responded to one of your posts in the Just for Fun forum.. Australian Aboriginal people traditionally used double words or double names for emphasis...for example, "Yarra" means river in one of the language groups from the region where Melbourne stands today, and Yarra Yarra means long river (the official name of the river that runs through Melbourne). So, what's behind the moonmoon name? ![]() Tethys

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!
Hello everyone!
I am a newbie here. Just another human being on the web of life. I have been based in London, UK, for the past 8 years but am not British. I consider myself as a citizen of the world and have a secret dream that the human race (as a whole) can finally evoluate into a higher specy and stop spreading wars, killing in mass for business or nationalistic reasons or just ignoring the poverty and suffering of the Thirld-World. I have never been to the US as the only time I was supposed to go, my passport was refused because the US custom didn't like the picture format on it. Whatever that meant. Anyway, as my name indicates, I will be freely and spiritually roaming on your threads and hopefully enjoy some constructive arguments and different opinions. My only regreat is that I am supposed to wait for a month before I can post my own thread. In the mean time, I will try to participate to the discussions already started. Last point: I apologise in advance if you find my English incorrect sometimes. I do not wish to spoil your beautiful language on purpose but as it isn't my first language, I hope you will understand where I am coming from. I wish you all a lovely day! write to you soon, Free ![]()

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!
Welcome FreeSpirit...
I also think of myself as a citizen of the world, and I share your "secret dream" for humanity. I think we will need to work at it to realise it, but it's possible. I live in Australia, but I am not Australian born. Re posting a thread, you can PM Crystal or O'Sullivan Bere to seek a waver to the rule, but perhaps try to at least make 30 posts. I reckon the rule is okay because it gives you a chance to get to know the board and the members first. See you around... Tethys

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!
Hi everyone! I'm a happily married mother of two, originally from Virginia (just moved this past year to West Va.) In politics, I'm registered as independent, but lean slightly left.
Hope to be talking more with all of you soon! Jess |

Re: The Introduce Yourself thread!
Welcome aboard Jess, even if you "lean slightly to the left".
