Donald Rumsfeld

I think it is very curious indeed that Donald Rumsfeld has fanancial interests in Halliburton, the number one contracter in Iraq. He stated that he had no more financial interest in Halliburton but it has been proven that he is making money from destruction in Iraq. This must suggest that this man is using his position to further his financial position as he was very much involved in awarding contracts to contracters after the illegal invasion.

Re: Donald Rumsfeld

I think you have your sinister conspiracies mixed up.

Cheney has the ties to Halliburton.
Rumsfeld has stock in the makers of TamiFlu.

Re: Donald Rumsfeld

Really, isn't there a handbook for loonie conspiracy theory people to follow so mix up like these don't happen? I suppose Cheney got his hands on it and had Rumsfeld mix everything up under the orders of Rove to make the loonies look stupid. It could happen, not likely but!!

Sounds like we'll be seeing Avian Flu used as a biological weapon against terrorists any day now. Does Halliburton build clinics?

I do believe that they do build the Mobile Hospital for the Military. Now how did we all miss this?

When have people not profited from a war?

It's almost unfortunate, but wars bolster the economy.

Re: Donald Rumsfeld

I am sorry about that mistake, I was trying to be as quick as possible and I got my tyrants mixed. Silly me. I guess that mistake possibly gave more momentum to a thread that was destined to be forgotten due to its lack of effort and detail.

This quote was stated as a reply to the point that war profiteering is going on. It wasn't a denial of it but a justification. Wars bolster the economy, now that is brutal capitalism summed up in a sentence. Are you going to tell the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's that have lost their lives during this conflict that? Does the economy excuse war? Do you know what war is like? Our filtered media portrays a clean affair where evrything is well but ill tell you what, Iraq and Afgahnistan are closer to hell, and we can't comprehend that unless we experience it.

My second problem with this reply is that war profiteers are not boosting the economy at all. It is US/UK taxes that mostly pay for the contracts awarded to the contracters that have the ties to the oligarchic politicians. War does boost the economy as it changes the working and spending habits of the population but that is a different arguement. I don't think the U.S administration is that bothered about looking after its population as a whole. I think its more bothered with rewarding those that have looked after them.

Why would I?

Why do you think there was such an economic boom from WWII??

There are enormous profits from war...like it or not.

People on both sides are profiting from this war.

Don't take my statement as me arguing for or against the war in Iraq. I simply pointed out one of the many consequences of war. And yes, the MASSIVE government spending in defense related industries does bolster the economy. It pumps tax payers money directly into the economy, something that may or may not happen anyways, but when the government does it it boosts the economy. I don't think the government should have that sort of affect on the economy, but that is one of those things that we just have to accept and work to ensure it does not remain after the end of the conflict.
