Well, granted, the opinions of the Welsh are only slightly less valuable than those of the Danes. However, to insist that America can and should ignore world opinion is, at this point in history, quite dangrous.

We live in a community, and we have to remember that we are becoming increasingly dependent on it.

Agreed, and I think we should become less dependant on it by stopping our ludicrous borrowing and paying down the deficit.

Most of us don't give a fuck what Europe thinks, in case you are wondering. The fact that you don't like him means he's doing something right, as far as I am concerned.

You just better hope I don't get my way and the U.S. takes all of our defenses out of Europe. Y'all might actually have to spend $ on defense and give up your nanny state programs.
Well, thanks for the nice welcome. You call this an argument?
And by the way, the Soviet Union does not exist anymore (jus' in case you've missed it), consequently there is no real threat for (Western) Europe.

Here are some of the positive effects of Bush's policies. . .

1) Iran has become more powerful.

Iran's Influence Growing In Iraq

That's right. Prior to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Iran had nary an influence there, since Saddam brutally oppressed all the Shiites.

But now, with Iran's new influence among Iraqi Shiites, the US govt.'s ability to reign in Iraq w/the threat of force has been sharply reduced, since Iran can now foment massive uprisings against US troops in Iraq to retaliate, and the increased US-troop death toll from that would be enough to derail any Presidency (including the next Pres Hillary, who has said she will not withdraw all US troops from Iraq)

2) The US opened talks with Iran for the first time in 27 years.

That's right, before Bush, the US totally isolated Iran. But Bush put a stop to that, broke the ice, and decided to open lines of communications to Iran. . .

U.S., Iran to hold first formal talks in 27 years - CNN.com

3) US aid to the Palestinians, i. e. Fatah, the party formerly led by PLO-resistance leader and terrorist Yasser Arafat, has resumed.

Resumption of U.S. aid to Palestinians leaves some lawmakers uneasy - International Herald Tribune

Of course, some pro-Israeli govt. "lawmakers are uneasy" (a certain CT senator comes to mind), but the Palestinians desperately need aid to stay on top of their #1 threat, Israel.

Money to Palestinian fighters is always a good thing.

4) Amnesty will be granted to 8 million illegal aliens.

CNN.com - Bush calls for changes on illegal workers - Jan. 8, 2004

No doubt the cherry on top of all the Bush administration's efforts. Now all the hard-working illegal immigrants who work here can take part in the American dream without the fear of being deported. And, to state the obvious, keeping hard-working ambitious people in this country is always a good thing.

5) GOP majority in Congress has been destroyed.

Thought I'd save this for the last. When Bush entered office, the GOP had solid majorities in both Houses. And in 2006, primarily due to discontent with the war, the Dems control both.

Of course, the Dems and Repubs are very nearly the same thing.

Still, they say the Dems will take stronger measures on the environment and enact less industry-clouted health care laws. We can hope now, can't we?

Let's all give Bush a hand for these 5 wonderful accomplishments!

You mean grate prima, ha, ha.

Hm, more or less it could be correct. With an exception it's not "dangrous" it is dangerous. Spelling, spelling, English, English.

He probably would also make the bullheaded mistake of not negotiating with people who happened to say a few mean things about America, fortunatley Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Reagan all had the common sense and wisdom to know that negotiation is an essential tool in achieving peace, no matter how violent or radical the man at the other side of the table was. This is back when that man happened to have thousands of nukes at his disposal, and vowed to crush America. Now we throw a shitfit when Barack Obama talks about having discussions with a madman who has little power and no nuclear arms.

Kennedy had enough common sense not to use nuclear weapons.

[quote=Speedyer;1126321]No, Democracy in Iraq is still in shambles as much as every even despite the fact that there have been less deaths overall recently. As for Afghanistan, the Taliban are back. Why? They never really were stomped out, they went across the boarder to Pakistan where their ideology flourishes. Of course its a good thing Pakistan is a good stable democratic country or such extremist might push for power.

As for Saddam, please show me proof of WMD, of at the least some concret proof that Saddam was a threat to anybody. Or did you forget about the

Good thing it isn't his fault that we may be headed to a recession, and that inflation is on the rise huh? I mean he has NOTHING to do with that, its all Clinton's fault huh?

This just makes me laugh, because NCLB has done more damage than good. Of course I wont try to convince you otherwise, because you already seem to be living in LA LA land.

You can't be serious! Honor and dignity? So perjury is an honorable act these day eh? I could go on, but I wont. That being said, which Foreign nations are ya talking about?

Oh really, it was all the DEMS fault, the President played no role in that mess. None what so ever. Them evil DEMS!

If you say so, that doesn't make it true though. That being said, I'm glad that Bush had nothing to do with some of the serious matters concerning our Government. Oh, and I'm glad that the state of our nation is absolutely great and near perfection. Oh, and of course I'm being sarcastic.
