Re: Bush is a great President

George Bush is not the worst president that we have ever had, though he is not our best. In my opinion he was merely a byproduce of reganomics which has become the norm for republicans these days. He is simply living up to the new standard of republicans which is to cater to the richest 10% of the population in the hope that they will reinvest money into the economy with their tax exemption or give the president a lot of money. One of the fundemental flaws of George Bush is that he is unable to keep corrupt politics out of the whitehouse such as Dick Cheney and the lobbyists. I think that some of the huge problems in the United States at the time are created by serious mismanagement of the economic factors that were already beginning to eat away at the edge of the economy. The so called "pax americana" ushered on by Clinton is, in my opinion, a result of the Silicon Valley boom that envigorated the economy coupled with Clinton's sound management of the change that accompanied the boom.

Re: Bush is a great President

Because Bush has needed on-the-job-training for practically the whole time he's been in office, I feel that this qualifies him as the worst president in the history of the United States.

Laundry List of the Bush Legacy:

1) scrapping the ABM treaty with Russia
2) scrapping the deal with North Korea, calling them evil, then ignoring them
3) shunning Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts, only to return to it 7 years later
4) tax cuts retro-active to 1985 for huge corporations
5) the sitting president during the worst attack on America ever
6) attacking and occupying third-world countries that never attacked us
7) doubling the deficit
8) overseeing two economic downturns; no upturn
9) fewest jobs created since Herbert Hoover
10) sanctions on Iran and axis-of-evil talk that brought Ahmadinejad to power
11) supporting military dictator Musharraf
12) overseeing the deaths of about half a million people in two endless wars
13) creating the Patriot Act which circumvents the constitution
14) spying on citizens
15) operating secret torture prisons
16) energy secretaries that worked for oil companies
17) picking a FEMA rep who was poorly qualified for the job
18) choking on a pretzel(ah yes, comic relief at last)
19) the unfunded mandate No Child Left Behind
20) no progress on Social Security solvency, and
21) no actual 9/11 monument to speak of, although you can order those coins on tv.....and they have real dark chocolate inside them!!

Bush is the biggest freaking joke the world has ever seen. Americans are mostly really good hearted people, but their name has been tarnished all over the world. Everyone felt sorry for us after 9/11, but if we were to get attacked again, they would all publicly say the felt for us while acknowledging privately that we brought it on ourselves by getting involved in a part of the world that is freaking crazy. It's not because we're rich and free, it's because we meddle over there and sell everybody weapons and occupy their land.

All we needed was a president who reads and understands history and we could have avoided so much bloodshed. Bush, definitely the worst president of all time.

Re: Bush is a great President

I am not disagreeing with you that he is a horrible president, though I do not think he is the worst because he is simply an emulation of many incompetent presidents before him. I think because of our falling economy and the problems we face abroad his incompetency is being shown more thoroughly than other presidents, but they probably would have handled it just as badly. Now if we could get Bill as president again.. that might solve a thing or two. Now I think it is up to the democrats to fix things up.. (or maybe a very moderate republican). But I still think our economy is going to take a hit from his serious lapses of any intelligent thought.

Btw... the pretzel thing may make ur point haha

Several hundred thousand??? Now either you can't count or like creating and inventing dead people...(if you were a registered Democrat then i'd understand seeing as the dead usually vote for you).

They were segregated long before we ever went in. Under Saddam there were the Sunni’s, and there was the low class, which was everyone else. Any segregation that exists in Iraq today is of the Iraqi people’s own choosing, it isn’t being forced on them by their government.

One more thing Wharf, however great the casualty number may be, how does that address the issue of what the view of the Iraqi people is? Last time i checked, apart from those who vote from beyond the grave in favor of democrats, the dead don't actually voice opinions...

That’s not a trivial point. The fanatics that would be shouting the loudest are busy blowing themselves up. The Iraqis that are left are much more moderate and reasonable.

An anti-whitey bump brought to you by a state of the union address just starting by the subject of this thread.

You speaking of the Boom that turned into a bubble which burst making all that money Clinton's policies depended on on just evaporate overnight?

11) supporting military dictator Musharraf
You of course prefer the Idea of an Islamic Dictatorship controling Pakistan's Nuclear armed long range missiles, and AQ Khan continuing to sell nuclear weapons technology to the highest bidders.

Quote:
5) the sitting president during the worst attack on America ever
Would you rather al-Gore had been president at the time, I doubt Al would have wanted to be if he knew what was going to happen.

1) scrapping the ABM treaty with Russia
Now Russia wants to buy into our ABM network, they like everyone else with common sense realize that times have changed and they as well as much of Europe are within range of Iranian missles, or soon will be.

Quote:
2) scrapping the deal with North Korea, calling them evil, then ignoring them
And it seems to have worked.

6) attacking and occupying third-world countries that never attacked us
Since you are in Canada what would you have to say about Canada helping out in Afghanistan? After all 911 didn't happen in Canada now did it.
The Taleban sided with those who attacked the US thereby openly becoming an enemy of the US, our war there is not against Afghanistan its against the Taleban, which are remnants of a failed state. Those attacking Afghanistan are the Taleban and their terrorist allies. And even the Taleban have begun to turn against al-Queda in some regions, and some have defected to the Afghan government.

In Iraq our war was against the Ba'athist Regime, not against the people of Iraq. Our continued presence is in support of the legal representative government of Iraq.

Quote:
12) overseeing the deaths of about half a million people in two endless wars
Perhaps you should lay that charge at the feet of Bin Laden.

Quote:
8) overseeing two economic downturns; no upturn
Bull.

Quote:
Everyone felt sorry for us after 9/11
Crocodile tears.
Resentment of the US has been endemic since WW2.
Why else would the French desecrate the graves of US war dead of WW2?
Now that Paris gets set afire by Muslim immigrants on a regular basis they seem to have begun to swing back this way, temporarily that is.

BTW
Marcel, are you in Canada dodging the non existent draft, or did you make good the promise to defect to Canada if Kerry lost?
