The French desecrate the graves of US war dead, really? I must really be out of touch, I thought we lovingly tended the damned things, even though the Air Force killed 60 thousand French civilians in WW2 by bombing the crap out of our cities. Think you guys do better for the Frenchmen that died at Yorktown, maybe? You probably just tossed them in a ditch.

Re: Bush is a great President

Not surprisingly, I'm reading a bunch of bitching about President Bush. I'll admit that he's not the best president we've ever had. The worst... that's a stretch. My advice to all of you who are not happy with your President... go kick the shit out of your neighbor, because chances are that he or she voted for him. Whether you consider this presidency to be a success or circus, the only person you have to blame is the one in the mirror, because you (and I) allowed President Bush to be reelected. He is your President. Smile be proud to be an American.

Interesting statistic you brought up, AdrienXII. 60,000 French dead by the US. The technology just wasn't that good during that time period. Even today missles and bombs cause what people refer to as "collateral damage" (which means we killed someone we didn't mean to kill). Are you criticizing the US for that statistic? Last I checked, the French still speak French instead of German. The United States did what it had to do.

History will be much kinder to GWB than most of you are currently willing to believe. Whatever.
Beyond the pale ! I'll need anti acid treatment after that one.

The fact remains, however, that 60 thousand is a lot of civilians. It's hardly accurate to them collateral damage, since the Us Air Force was burning French cities to the ground at the time. Who lives in French cities? French citizens. No those 60k people were very much deliberate damage.

I certainly consider the ultimate victory worth this sacrifice, but I have to ask. What did it achieve? What did destroying half of French cities achieve?

Yes. This is what all failed politicians say : History Will Know Better.

Since by the time History strikes, we will be all dead, I suggest we stick to the present time. And presently, many people are suffering because of the failures of G.W. Bush's politics.

Re: Bush is a great President

I wasn't referring to civilian casualties as collateral damage. I was just saying that's what they call it. I think it is completely wrong to have done what you are saying happened. I'm not sure what the air force was trying to achieve. It sounds like, though, what they achieved is French towns burned to the ground and 60,000 dead. The only guess I can wager is that they thought there was some German resistance in the towns and the bombed them. Not sure at all, though.

Oh, I'm sure they got some Germans. Only, I fear the cost may have been disproportionate to the results.

What other public servant in the US would get away with the kind of deception GWB is guilty of? Fabricating evidence to start a war, thousands of soldiers dead, cost in the trillion funded by a deficit borrowed from China. I think history will judge this man harshly.

And of course, like most irrational anti-USA zealots, you give no explanation of how you came to that absurd conclusion.

Fucking pathetic...

Could you explain the reasoning you used to come to the conclusion that GWB "fabricated evidence"?

Or are you just mindlessly repeating a load of ignorant crap that someone spoon-fed you?

Well, he did not do it PERSONALLY.

But the evidence presented to the United Nations early 2003 were fabricated in the sense that they were supposed to represent something that did not exist. (Remember the pictures that Powell brandished to the audience ?)

If my memory serves me well, there were also some falsified letters about the import of uranium ...

Falsified purchase orders made by whom?

Could you explain why you think that is even relevant?

Sure.

All the talk from the administration about ties between Iraq and the terrorists of september 11th (al-Qaida), how Iraq would supply terrorists with WMDs. Terrorist, Iraq, al-qaida. Over and over again. There weren't any ties, it was all bullshit, meant to scare his own countrys citizens to support him in a crusade they would never support if he would have told them the truth. Or take the lies about Iraqs nuclear weapons program, yellow cake from Niger, mushroom cloud and all that.

He made Iraq look like an aggressive and potent enemy to the US, when in reality it was the other way around, Iraq wasn't aggressive and it was impotent.

You should prosecute him for treason.
