I honestly can't think of any reason to oppose Gupta...

Re: Dr. Gupta, I Presume!
I don't think this position is worth wrangling about. After all, how much savvy does it take to come up with: "The Surgeon General has determined that cigarette smoking may be hazardous to your health."

Re: Dr. Gupta, I Presume!
He doesn't. But why not? That is where the PhD came from. He is from Emory University and doctors employed by a university hospital can go to school for free to the tune, I believe, of one class each term. So many of them just keep piling on degrees just because they can.

Re: Dr. Gupta, I Presume!
Sorry, I misread it. I had cataract surgery this week and I'm not used to being able to SEE!

A Ph. D. from a top notch U at the end of a doctor's name is the only indication that the doctor can think--something that's crucial when it comes time for a diagnosis. Consequently, any patient that sees a neurologist w/no doctorate for a diagnosis is just wasting his/her time. It's perfectly OK to see a primary care physician for a referral (POSs and HMOs require referrals), regardless of whether the PCP has a Ph. D. But a specialist has to have one, or else he/she isn't a real doctor. Unfortunately, there are many doctors that have Ph. Ds. and are still idiots (this happens alot--sometimes because the Ph. D. was obtained at some joke university), but not having a Ph. D. guarantees that he's an idiot.

When you keep posting such inaccuracies, you make me have less and less hope that you will actually get something right eventually.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() But for the record, Gupta has been published in the Journal of Neurosurgery and The Spine Journal. (BTW, you don't have to have a Ph. D. to be published.) Oh, yeah, as far as I know, Michael DeBakey didn't have Ph. D. behind his name....guess he couldn't think. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
