Oil is a depleting resource so the government should be protecting the US economy and getting them off a resource which will dramatically increase in price over the next 20 years. It should prepare the US economy for a life of very high gas prices...

Therefore the tax on gas should be raised. Why should the non users of gas have to pay for those lazy spongers of gas when they could just drive more economical vehicles... Exceptions do apply for various industries who use a specially coloured diesel.

This how it works in Europe...
It's working great over there.

It's sound.. The car manufacturers are very clued in, including Ford. The Ford Mondeo was the best selling in it's class (family saloon) for years. The laugh is Ford are a very proactive company in europe with changes to the cars very quick and ahead or with the competition (VW, BMW, Audi,Toyota...).

This is why we can't understand why they are in any way in trouble. In Europe they make great cars and good prices.. All there cars are very close to being leaders in the market...

Ford is nowhere near the situation that GM and Chrysler are in. They haven't taken any bailout money, and if what they say is true, they do not plan on it.

Exactly how is everybody supposed to be like NYC? New York City is full of 8 million people condensed into a small geographic area where everything you would ever need is within walking distance. There are few other places like that in this country.

Furthermore, the people in NYC pay through their noses in taxes. It's the highest taxed city in the country and it's losing population because your average joe can't afford to live there anymore.
