Even Helen Thomas is getting pissed

What a perfect representative for this administration is Gibbs. Douchebaggery abounds. Please enjoy.

Oh my GOD--the media including Helen Thomas of all people are on video grilling Gates--over why does this President get "pre-packaged" questions--when according to Helen Thomas--who has been in the White House Press core--since dirt was invented--STATES---NO OTHER AMINSTRATION HAS EVER DONE THIS.

Apparently in some "town hall" meeting the reporters are stating that they e-mail their questions in advance & then the White House will contact them "PRIOR" to the meeting to let them know that they will be called upon to ask their question!!!!!!!

This must be done--in order for them to "program" Barack Obama's response into his teleprompter!

UN-BELIEVEABLE--- The cat is finally out of the hat!

Her biggest complaint was not that he gets the questions early, but they pick only the questions that they want to be ask.

Apparently you need to watch this video again: Helen Thomas states that NO OTHER administration has done this.

This is pre-selection of questions from anybody. Meaning--that there will be no TOUGH questions answered. Those will be put in file 13.

This is NOT transparency in government as promised by Barack Obama--it is complete control over the media & what you are going to hear from them, accordingly as specifically designed by this administration.

During the Bush/Clinton administration if you ever watched the press core--they would hammer away at random questions--& the press secretary was often caught of guard & would reply back. "I don't know the answer to that I will find out & get back with you."

You never-ever hear that from this administration. Barack Obama has an answer for EVERYTHING--because he pre-selected the question way in advance.

And this video is the PROOF of it. Gibbs explains in detail how people & their questions are selected--THROUGH ADVANCE E-MAIL. At the end of this video he even asks Helen Thomas--"did you e-mail me your question"?

People - what more do you need to see? The only thing missing was a question from a reporter with balls like, "What are you giggling about? You've been accused of manipulating the free press. Wipe that fake smile of condescension off your face, asshole."

Re: Even Helen Thomas is getting pissed

Yeah, pisses me off. Clear abuse of power.

In regards to the thread though. This needs to be said. I didn't see any of you have yet posted complaining about Bush's stonewalling the press, and preselecting reporters, to include using a former prostitute to seed favorable softball questions in press conferences. So in regards to CharlesDavenport's and Oreo's objections, I wish you guys would seriously stay consitent on these types of issues. They are important, and Obama is certainly doing wrong. The issue I have with you guys bitching about it, is that your previous behavior seems to point toward the fact you don't have an issue with the President manipulating the press, you have an issue with a Democratic President manipulating the press...

Reflex number one - If really obvious, then find something relating to Bush to mitigate...

It's just completely disingenusous of you to bitch about things that are a problem, and wrong, because they are only an issue to you when it's coming from someone not on your team.

Anyway, you guys are right. I agree with you, but I know you'd be singing a different tune if Obama had an R next to his name. Which is sort of irritating.

There's a point in there? Please show me my post where I support similar behavior. Clue - hasn't been similar behavior (right from Helen Thomas' mouth), let alone posts supporting such.

Why do you guys immediately reach for amoral company rather than address your transgression? Oh, that's right, individual responsibility is a crock, right? It's all the same in the spatter of socialism.

This is categorically untrue. Bush certainly behaved the same way toward the press. Need I remind you about his use of a prostitute to pitch softball questions during press conferenses?

Why do you guys always bitch and moan about transgressions from politicians from the other side, yet defend the idiots on your own side toothe and nail? Oh that's right, you have god on your side, so no matter what is being done by a republican it's gotta be divinely infallible. It's the same stupid dribble of theocracy.

Re: Even Helen Thomas is getting pissed

Far-Right Wing Nuts amuse me.

Its not true, he doesn't hand pick questions. Helen was off the mark. I'm watching the video now on the news. She's just pissed because she's frustrated.

Obama's doing what every president has done before, which is control the press as much as they can. The whole concept of the White House Press Meetings is largley a farce, it always has been.

He doesn't handpick the questions or know them before hand, he does handpick the person asking the question. There's a BIG difference.

And yes, the assholes who are suddenly complaining about them are not only annoying but seriously disenginuous, because nobody controlled the press as much as GW. Where were the cries and bitching and moaning then? If you kept your traps shut then, then please keep them shut now.

You guys really are worth a good laugh or two.

ROTFLMWIAO!!

Re: Even Helen Thomas is getting pissed

Our country DEPENDS upon a free press. That's what keeps this country free.

REMEMBER--The national news conference regarding the 787 Billion dollar stimulus bill that was needed because of the "Worst economic crisis of our time"--as stated by Barack Obama:

Quote:
HELEN THOMAS asked one of the most outrageous questions of the evening that had nothing to do with the economy or the stimulus bill: "Mr. President--do you believe that there are terrorists hiding along the Pakistani/Afgan border? This question turned into a National Joke-of her. Then there were other questions--one a 4 part question on what Barack Obama found enchanting about the White House. Obama spent several minutes answering these ridiculous questions.

I almost fell out of my chair over these questions, & was very disturbed by a sitting President taking the precious time to answer them in a time of economic crisis. Now we know that these questions were pre-selected by this administration. There is only one reason why this administration pre-selects these type questions. To avoid the tough questions. And what did we get? A 787 Billion dollar so-called-economic-stimulus-bill that was packed with political pay-offs, earmarks & pork.

So the next time you see Barack Obama in a town hall meeting or in front of cameras doing a news conference-You know now it's nothing more than a STAGED & REHEARSED performance.

Re: Even Helen Thomas is getting pissed

When Bush did some thing wrong the press was all over it.. now if Obama is doing some thing wrong where is the press?

If Obama does some thing wrong and some one questions it, the First thing is Where were you when Bush was doing wrong..and to me that is just a sign of "look the other way while we pull some thing off that we should not be" or yes he is doing some thing wrong but we do not wish to talk about it, and neither should you, you should move on and get a life.

Re: Even Helen Thomas is getting pissed

Utter tripe.

The last press conference I saw seen Major Garret or whatever from Fox asking the President 'what took you so long?', hardly softball. This was followed by a series of combative exchanges between Obama and the Press men in the room.

Your charges are baseless.
