As for beer, you definitely know beer. IMO, Americans often suffer--and I mean suffer--from lack of knowledge rather than lack of class when it comes to beer because a litany of good beers aren't commonly sold. And that's a shame, because the stuff so many think are good beers are...well....use your scatalogical imagination. Budweiser was always a great advertiser though. Besides effectively using humour and bikini babes and volleyball studs, their slogans were classic circular reasoning and argumentum ad nauseum about its 'quality'; e.g. "King of Beers," ""This is the famous Budweiser beer. We know of no brand produced by any other brewer which costs so much to brew and age. Our exclusive Beechwood Aging produces a taste, a smoothness, and a drinkability you will find in no other beer at any price," etc. Given the truth of the matter about Budweiser, however, it amazes me that over the years that US servicemen didn't come marching home in force from Ramstein Air Base, etc, to sue the living shit out of them for false advertisement, consumer fraud, RICO, Geneva Convention violations, etc. The same can be said for a large number of mainstream US beers too. US microbreweries, however, have often done a good job ever since they started taking off in the 80s with increasing numbers ever since.

However, it could have also made Obama look like a snob for not drinking standard working class fare. Maybe that was the reason the cheap stuff was chosen.

As for Matt, no. I really doubt he'll say the POTUS is a bad person. Matt has too much character for that. But Rush and Glenn Beck, yeah. They have no character. Their low brow twistings alleging Obama is a 'militant black' and/or hates whites, etc, are absurd and race baitings and race button pushings of the lowest forms for the lowest types for the lowest reasons, and it's once again IMO a sad commentary on why their prominence is regrettable to the best interests of American society.

I wonder how many citizens in MA make part of their living selling Bud, Coors and Miller. I guess he forgot that...so way to go Rep in looking out for your constituents in a tough economy.

Spot on. BTW, Europeans pretty much consider Americans a joke when it comes to beer. All the common brands that 90% of Americans enjoy are essentially considered akin to piss to them. I'd have to say they're right, when I used to dabble in beer drinking, it was almost strictly Heineken, which is was the prominent beer I grew up drinking from age 14. Seeing as how beer originated and has since been perfected in Euroupe, I have to take their word for it. Its funny though, even the Heineken that's made in America, is of a lesser quality than the Heineken made say...in Holland. My brother pointed that out to me a few years ago. |
