Military Intervention [?]

There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America’s military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the “Obama problem.” Don’t dismiss it as unrealistic. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn’t mean it wont.

The fictional failed coup presented in the film: "7 Days in May" seems to have been revisited. This is the first commentary I have come across even to suggest such an option. I doubt the contemplation of such an event by the JCOS. If such a coup was to be entertained, it would have to be unamimous by the General Staff at the highest level. I rather believe a sitting President, eligible or not would be advised of his plight and agreeably resign. Nixon resigned tho a coup was not imminent.

Obama is the best candidate in modern times to be considered as the man to be replaced by the "request" of the Armed Forces of the USA.

An amendment should be attached to the US Constitution providing all future US Presidents have military service experience, be it as an enlisted man or the Officers Corps. Men like Obama, a community hustler is out of touch with many of the real world realities.

The military is too late. A coup has already taken place and Martian imposters have taken the place of most national leaders. They'll be coming for our guns any day now.

A conversation with Gore Vidal unfolds at his pace. He answers questions imperiously, occasionally playfully, with a piercing, lethal dryness. Vidal is sitting in the Connaught Hotel in Mayfair, where he has been coming to stay for 60 years. He is wearing a brown suit jacket, brown jumper, tracksuit bottoms; his white hair twirled into a Tintin-esque quiff and with his hooded eyes, delicate yet craggy features and arch expression, he looks like Quentin Crisp, but accessorised with a low, lugubrious growl rather than camp lisp.

Well there it is folks, any man who can marry "Hanoi" Jane has to have greater insight into these matters than lowly plebeian scum such as ourselves.

Is such a scenario possible? Of course it is.

Will such a scenario eventuate? I doubt it. But interesting that a man such as Vidal would think so. Where is he deriving this concept? A book he is writing? Did he see the current manuscript of Ludlum or Grissom in process? Is he setting the stage for his own book: "The Coming Coup in America?"
