Dem. Representative upset about Recovery.gov website "update" cost of 18 MILLION

Representative Brown-Waite from Florida just disclosed that it cost 18 MILLION DOLLARS to update the Recovery.Gov website to track the stimulus money spent--& she found out that another company would have done it for 600 thousand.

She was on Greta Van Sustren--FOX news describing 5 jobs that cost 3 million dollars. She is very upset about the government waste & is asking where are the jobs in these congressional districts that do not even exist.

    I will try & find a link--just heard it.

    Here is an article:

WASHINGTON -- Bugs in a website meant to track stimulus funding prompted U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Brooksville, to file a complaint today with recovery.gov about the website itself.

As reported this week, the website lists projects in congressional districts that don't exist and until recently overestimated the number of jobs created by the $787 billion stimulus package. Readers are encouraged to report waste, fraud and abuse to the website.

“At a time when so many Americans are out of work and our nation’s debt has exploded, that the Administration would spend so much money on what now turns out to be propaganda is quite frankly appalling,” said Brown-Waite in a statement.

The administration of President Barack Obama has found transparency to be a double-edged sword, as the White House has been criticized for not providing accurate figures.

Vice President Joe Biden recently attributed the errors to bad bookkeeping and said the administration was working to fix the problem.

    BTW--sorry about the title--Brown-Waite is a Republican.

Another item of interest on this subject. The guest had a copy of the contract for the update. 90% of it was blacked out to hide the names of the people/companies that received payment. Any government contract on non-secret item is supposed to be public information.

As for the website does this show that the government is lying about the number of jobs or just incompetent and cannot put together a website without making this many mistakes. Either way do we really want then to manage our health care?

makes me sick to even think about it...
“Are vital U.S. interests more imperiled by what happens in Iraq where were have 50,000 troops, or Afghanistan where we have 100,000, or South Korea where we have 28,000 -- or by what is happening on our border with Mexico?...What does it profit America if we save Anbar and lose Arizona?”

EXACTLY--Here we have an incompetent organization who can't even manage their own web-site--who now wants to take over 6% of the economy--

I am so made I paid my $29.00 to pinkslip.com to send all congressmen/senators their notice of termination should they vote for this nonsense.
