no they're not and actually much worse

And hate to break it to you, but the majority of folks in this country still currently favor the Dems over the Reps.

    But a majority nonetheless.

You either have not been paying attention or your in the Robert Gibbs' school of political disbelief... and Gibbs is entering into 'Baghdad Bob' territory.

Your Democrats began the year as masters of the Washington political universe… but this year is ending badly for them. Your top goal, health care, is shit on a stick and hugely detested by most everybody. Your Congress's approval rating is at26%, Speaker Nancy Pelosi's is 28%, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's is an anemic 14% All these numbers are lower than Dick Cheney polled at the end of last year.

Hear that again: All these numbers are lower than Dick Cheney polled at the end of last year.

Democrats now trail Republicans by four points in Gallup's generic ballot poll. How bad is that? In 1994, the year the GOP first took control of Congress, it wasn't until March of that year that Republicans took the lead in that poll—and then only by one point and for a short period of time.

In January of this year Bush polled at 35% approval. Obama is now polling at 46%

As Tucker Carlson said, adding some historical perspective to Obama’s numbers:

“This president is at the lowest point as measured by Gallup of any president in the modern age, lower than Harry Truman, who was deeply unpopular, lower than Ronald Reagan, who was facing tough economic times after his first election,” Carlson said. “No one mentions it. I mean, if this were Bush - - when Bush’s numbers started to drop, you read about it parenthetically in every single news story.”

    not a majority < 50%

and give it time on the impact to the DNC. everyone thought the GOP was destroyed too. but I suspect there will be a pretty hard swing right in next years elections.

LOL, my Democrats? I'm an independent, good sir, I'm fond of neither party. Yes, the Democrats sure did drop the ball many times and are doing what I've come to expect from our elected officials: totally sucking. But, you have yet to show that the Democratic party is somehow 'destroyed'. You are aware that Obama has at the very least three more years left in office, correct? You are aware that according to Gallup, Obama is currently doing better than Reagan did at the same time? I posted a poll in another thread that was taken in Reagan's second year that showed that the majority of people did not want Reagan to run for a second term and quite a few of them regretted voting for him. As we all know, Reagan turned things around and went on to win a second term.

I'm just pointing out that claiming some sort of 'victory' over the defeat of Democrats is a bit early at this moment. There certainly is a chance the Dems will continue to mess up and they'll be booted out of Washington in both 2010 and 2012. But, you're getting quite a bit ahead of yourself at the moment and it comes off as a bit silly.

    but keep thinking he does'nt..

It's very possible. I'll remain skeptical, though. As I mentioned, a lot of people on this board predicted the Democrats sweeping Washington in 2004 and that never happened.

The way I see it, whichever party is in office, the members of the other party tend to complain and debate the most. During Bush, this board had a liberal/Democrat majority. Now under Obama, this board has a conservative/Republican majority. While this is all well and good for people to come out and vent and get some good ol' partisan complaining out of their system, it also tends to create a sort of false reality. This board has never been an accurate representation of the American public and people tend to lose sight of that. They get on this board, see most people hate Obama and then start thinking that Obama and the Dems are on their way out, when in reality, the Dems are still viewed more favorably than the Reps.

Depends on which polls you prefer to read, I guess. I usually go by Gallup and Obama is doing better than Reagan did.

was not around here all that time but I question any conservative slant now.

Polling on the president's handling of an issue that has not yet been completed may mislead people as to how this issue will be viewed once it's completed.

Personally, the one certain “trend” in the the health care debate is the declining political fortunes of the conservative position to maintain the status quo.

    It's hysterical.

Of course, if your whole existence is based on the concept that your worldview is the only acceptable one, it may very well seem that there's an incredible liberal bias in everything you encounter that doesn't fit into that little worldview.
