Again I am forced to point out that you, along with most folks here on the left have not watched, have not listened, and do not know the Tea Party people, their convention and what was said and done and why. As such, you make judgments based on your own views that have nothing to do with the Tea Party movement.

BTW Andrew: there are several inches on Global Warming on my walk and driveway. When can I expect you over to clean it all off?

I know you’ll have the time

And yes, I blame you:

In Virginia, the weather also has changed dramatically. Recently arrived residents in the northern suburbs, accustomed to today's anemic winters, might find it astonishing to learn that there were once ski runs on Ballantrae Hill in McLean, with a rope tow and local ski club. Snow is so scarce today that most Virginia children probably don't own a sled. But neighbors came to our home at Hickory Hill nearly every winter weekend to ride saucers and Flexible Flyers. -RFK jr only 15 months ago
meh, you people are so petty and partisan. left this right that, blah, blah, blah. Are you guys so dim witted that you cant see beyond the political spectrum? Oh wait, that's why there will be no difference with a person like palin - you said it yourself right above. She is counting on the left.

Oh BTW, only really really stupid people try to invalidate global warming with snowfall in winter.

And the moment someone mentions elections they suddenly become anti-partisan...

You are really not suited to discussion outside of AGW are you?

As for really stupid people, I guess you were referring to RFK jr and AlGore, both having done what you condemned.

She taxed the oil companies enough so that in addition to covering the entire state budget, the citizens all got paid to live in Alaska.

Now that might work in a state that has a lot of oil and not many people, but it's going to be a little tougher to enact that policy and cover the entire federal budget. But I do like where she's done more than what she says.

1. Energy
2. Lift up American spirit

written on her hand. The liberals have got their panties all tied up in a wad over it.

Of course they elected a President that needs to tie a teleprompter around his neck to get through a paragraph. And as we have witnessed once his teleprompter goes on the blink--so does he---

Overall--at the Tea Party convention--Palin knocked the ball out of the park. And you know when she can get liberals so uptight, she is a home run hitter---

The tea party movement is for real. I went to mine over the weekend & we had all 5 candidates running for U.S. senator there to speak. And I live in a small town. They are not ignoring us. The Tea Party movement will be a force in 2010--that Republicans & Democrats will have to deal with.

Re: Palin and Tea Party mature into a political force

There was a very interesting op ed in today The Austtralian newspaper (the only national paper in the country) about Sarah Palin and her speech. I've pasted it below in case people were interested. It essentially says that the Dems should embrace her running for President for the GOP as it would virtually assure them (the Dems) victory as it would see the centrist independents flock to the left.

Palin is good news for Democrats | The Australian
Quote:
SARAH Palin hogged the headlines, but it was still a good weekend for Barack Obama - because Sarah Palin hogged the headlines. A poll taken late last week gave the hockey mom from Wasilla a five-point lead over the next most popular contender for the 2012 Republican nomination - Mitt Romney, a former Massachusetts governor. Her speech to the Tea Party convention in Nashville, Tennessee, was covered by every network and newspaper from the liberal mainstream media that the Tea Party movement affects to despise.
Her attack on Obama's record on national security was taken seriously by pundits, who agree terrorists do not deserve due process in the US courts, but her support for radical conservative challengers in Republican primary elections will have sent shivers down many a spine in the party's national leadership.

A serious Palin run for the White House is now a real possibility, not just the fantasy of a disaffected minority.
That should please Obama's staff and supporters immensely, because Palin represents nothing but trouble for the Republicans, for two main reasons.
First, she has already shown she can split the conservative vote and thereby lose seats to the Democrats by backing hard-right candidates over moderates favoured by the Republican high command.
Second, no potential Republican presidential nominee is guaranteed to send independent voters flocking back to the Democrats more than Palin.
She is a hardline social as well as fiscal conservative, but more alarmingly for the independents, she still lacks much of the basic knowledge of the world they consider a prerequisite for competence. She said yesterday: "I'm never going to pretend I know more than the next person."
There will always be a constituency for this sort of right-wing politician, but it will not be big enough to win the White House in 2012.

You forget, it was Palin who started that attacks on Obama for using a teleprompter. If she doesn't like having to clean all those glass walls in her home, she shouldn't pick fights by throwing stones.

Re: Palin and Tea Party mature into a political force

I cannot believe where this thread has gone. There are some significant issues out there regarding the Tea party and Palin. There are a lot of people here with comments and insights on both sides of the issue and all we can talk about is that Palin wrote notes on her hand??

Bush Sr lost in 1992 to Clinton because a second right wing candidate split the right votes.

Gore lost to Bush jr in 2000 because second left wing candidate split the left votes.

Palin could lose the 2012 election for the right if she and the tea party split the right vote.

I had to laugh when I saw this. Last week my 9yo Grand daughter got caught with the answers to a history test written on her hand.

Its not about winning.

Re: Palin and Tea Party mature into a political force

I have to wonder, did she really think that it was smarter to scrawl notes on her hand than to have a single note card in front of her on the podium?

What kind of "intelligence" does this reflect?

Re: Palin and Tea Party mature into a political force

While I am no Palin supporter, I do find it humorous that people bring up about her writing notes on her hand....I suppose none of you ever got into a hurry and simply jotted down things to remind yourselves. I think she did a great speech being that she only had a few simple words written down, not compared to a teleprompter or joe jack talking in ear piece such as another has used.

If a few words written on her hand pisses the left off that much, perhaps she is what we need.
