In January, 2007 Barack Obama declared his candidacy for the presidency with these words:
"It's not the magnitude of our problems that concerns me the most. It's the smallness of our politics. America's faced big problems before. But today, our leaders in Washington seem incapable of working together in a practical, common sense way. Politics has become so bitter and partisan, so gummed up by money and influence, that we can't tackle the big problems that demand solutions. And that's what we have to change first. We have to change our politics, and come together around our common interests and concerns as Americans."
Today he sings a far different tune:
Read more: Obama to Limbaugh:go play with yourself - NYPOST.comChafets reports he encouraged Limbaugh to reach out to the president just after last July's "Beer Summit" that Obama hosted between Professor Henry Louis Gates and Sgt. Joseph Crowley, the Cambridge cop who arrested Gates after he locked himself out of his own home.
"You guys are both golfers," Chafets told Limbaugh. "Would you play a round with the president and show the country that there are no hard feelings?"
"He's the president of the United States," Limbaugh told Chafets. "If any president asked me to meet him, or play golf with him, I'd do it. But I promise you that will never happen. His base on the left would have a s--t-fit."
"How about letting me ask?" Chafets said.
"Go ahead," Limbaugh said. "Nothing will come of it."
Chafets writes that he reached out to Obama adviser David Axelrod, "whom I know slightly," but Axelrod didn't return calls. Then Chafets spoke to "a very senior Democratic activist with whom I'm friendly" who said he would convey the message.
A day or two later the adviser responded, "Limbaugh can play with himself." Chafets wouldn't name the aide or say whether the quote was directly from Obama.
Only now after more than three years, spending trillions of our dollars, does the real Obama come out. "the smallness of our politics"
This president is the smallest of them all.

How is this even a thread? The title is misleading, the story is based on hearsay, it amounts to nothing, I mean, what the shit?
The anti-Obama folks here somehow manage to get more and more ridiculous as days pass. I never would have thought it would be possible, but here it is, for all to see. Good lord, there are countless actual reasons to be angry at Obama. Rail against his health care, rail against his bailout, rail against his broken campaign promises. But some aid supposedly telling some other guy I've never heard of that Rush Limbaugh can play golf by himself is somehow a reflection on how terrible Obama is?
Honestly, this is just sad. I know all of you conservatives aren't so ridiculous, I know a lot of you mean well and actually want what's best for the country and not just what's best for your party/ideology. I know a lot of you are smart and quite good at employing critical thinking skills, giving credit where credit is due and articulating your issues with this administration in an understandable and clear manner. I know a lot of you have actual issues with this admin, I know a lot of you are fair enough to approach a given situation without partisan blinders on. However, the level of laughable hysteria gurgling from the extreme end of conservatism is easily meeting and perhaps even surpassing that of the liberals under Bush and not even two years into Obama's Presidency. This thread is proof positive of such.
Ugh, I literally feel like I just lost multiple IQ points by coming into this thread. I should have weighed myself before hand and then weighed myself afterward, because the loss of brain matter could probably be quantified. The fact that there is a human being in this world that actually thought "Hey, this would be a good idea for a thread" makes me want to chainsaw my own head off. You might not think that's possible, but I'm so blown away at how retarded partisan politics could be, that I could probably work through the pain and commit to the act and see to it that the chainsaw makes it through my entire neck with no outside help. I would hang in there, I really would, because as blood sprayed everywhere and my time in this world faded to black, I'd still be too distracted by the unfathomable idea that starting a thread like this was ever a good idea.
"Finding the occasional straw of truth awash in a great ocean of confusion and bamboozle requires intelligence, vigilance, dedication and courage. But if we don't practice these tough habits of thought, we cannot hope to solve the truly serious problems that face us -- and we risk becoming a nation of suckers, up for grabs by the next charlatan who comes along." -Carl Sagan

Really, though, the line "Chafets wouldn't name the aide or say whether the quote was directly from Obama" doesn't make you think that this might be a bit questionable? That there are too many "he maybe said, she maybe said" things going on here? The guy is making mistakes left and right that are completely and 100% verifiable and this is all you could come up with? Rumors and gossip?
Not at all, I have rules I must follow, as well. Deleting threads because I don't like them would be a ridiculous move, as well. That said being all powerful you can make this thread 'disappear' should you wish it.

"There is no gain in arguing with a poo flinging monkey. While his
gibbering and raucous cries of victory may seem obnoxious in your ears
as you walk away, he will soon be quietly sitting behind his bars again
and licking his own feces off his fingers as you carry on with your day."
Put you could do it.
Right now this is the most read domestic story on the internet today.
Also this Chafets did the piece of Limbaugh last year for the NYT mag... that grew into this book coming out later this month.
Chafets is hardly a right wing hack.
Also... were this not true... all that the White House need do is come out and say: 'yeah... Obama will play golf with Limbaugh'
But they won't.
As for: "he guy is making mistakes left and right that are completely and 100% verifiable and this is all you could come up with?" We come up with this stuff every day.
What do we get for our trouble? Either nothing... dead silence. Or attacks on something Bush did... As an example take the deficit... Obama borrows more in 2 years than Bush does in 8... but every time the Obama deficit is brought up, we hear about the 'trillions' spent on Iraq... an outright lie.

Sure... why not?
Then I could shove this quote up the rear of both Obama and all the other liberal tools around here:
"It's not the magnitude of our problems that concerns me the most. It's the smallness of our politics. America's faced big problems before. But today, our leaders in Washington seem incapable of working together in a practical, common sense way. Obama is the worse most partisan president this nation has had in a very long time.

Yea, I can do a lot of stuff, that doesn't make it a good idea.
Oh, bullshit. Google News posts all the most widely read and reported articles on their page every day (which is how Google News works) and this story doesn't even show up.Right now this is the most read domestic story on the internet today.
Never said he was. I was simply pointing out that he offers zero evidence of anything. We don't know what was said or who said it and the article admits it. If we don't know what was said or who said it, the reasonable thing to do would be to wait for some sort of confirmation of those things. Also this Chafets did the piece of Limbaugh last year for the NYT mag... that grew into this book coming out later this month.

The White House has no duty to respond to each and every rumor about it. Besides, Mr. Hypocrite, you've railed against Obama playing golf in the past.Also... were this not true... all that the White House need do is come out and say: 'yeah... Obama will play golf with Limbaugh'
But they won't.

When Willl the Obama Administration Begin?
This one was ripped to shreds just a couple posts in.

Hey, lets drag up a dead issue that is widely regarded by both Democrats and Republicans as being retarded.
Obama in the Heartland...
Here's a thread where you try to leave the reader with the impression that Obama personally brought out riot police to defend himself from two old women. Excellent job there, tsquare. This will leave people thinking for weeks.
And Now... For Your Parting Gift, We Have...
This one was closed, because it wasn't even a discussion. You posted a friggin' t-shirt. Yes, that's right. Your thread was about a slogan on an article of clothing. Mental lightweights need not apply, only those with advanced degrees in political science can even begin to wrap their minds around this one.
And so on and so forth. Yes, you're doing a tremendous job of coming up with "new things" to make people take you and those like you less serious with each passing day.
I'm not surprised that you tend to block out actual arguments and only focus on those that make you feel superior or that you are correct in your beliefs. Perhaps if you didn't start such mind numbingly ridiculous partisan threads, you'd actually get some serious replies in them. Until then, have fun with your Jerry Springer threads and the shitty quality of "debate" that comes along with them. Then again, I'm sure "debate" is the last thing you're interested in around here. What do we get for our trouble? Either nothing... dead silence. Or attacks on something Bush did... So, your plan is to make this 'all about tsquare' thus ignoring everything else.
