"To be governed is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so." John Stossel quoting some guy.
Only there is a huge difference between a politician and the wife of a politician, at least before they decide to run for office herself. Once she decides to do that, all bets are officially off:
Michele Bachmann Demands Apology From NBC, Says Michelle Obama Would Have Gotten One
Perhaps she should become the wife of a politician instead of trying to play one on TV.Republican candidate Michele Bachmann addressed the controversy surrounding her appearance on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ this week, saying if what happened to her had happened to the First Lady, heads would have rolled.

I laughed my ass off over the bachman song. It was priceless. But I also applauded when that congressman called obama a liar during the state of the union. Politicians deserve exactly as much deference and respect as anyone else who tells lies for a living.
Michelle Obama has appeared beside her husband and on her own in support of his candidacy and his policies. She deserves respectful or deferential treatment no more than he does.

I have watched NASCAR on TV since parts of the races were first shown on ABC's Wide World of Sports, and I was there watching when the very first NASCAR race was shown in its entirety on ESPN in 1979 when Cale Yarborough and Bobby Allison had their epic fist fight after the race.
Until 9/11, most people simply ignored the National Anthem as they did at any other sports event. This was especially true of the teams which simply went about their business. They certainly didn't line up for attention in pit lane and pay homage to warmongering like they do now. That was all added to the show so that it was clear that NASCAR was 100% behind punishing those Ayrabs who did us wrong on 9/11, not that there was much doubt before then.

Your persepctive is skewed. Michele Bachmann was a political candidate who made an appearance on a talk show as a political candidate. She is putting herself out there for scrutiny. She is not the wife of a sitting president who is appearing at a non partisan pro American military recognition ceremony. They had the veteran combat soldier there with his wife and kids and were trying to recognize his sacrifice and contribution. That is what it was about. This isn't something that should need explaining.
Moderates are not republicans
After all, everybody knows that advocating good nutrition is a liberal plot which is typically performed by the co-president of the most powerful country in the world.

Really? And who here is saying Laura was hands off to booing? The main difference is that Laura isn't a elitist self important ass hat. You seemed shocked that many Americans I dare say the majority of us find the Obama's to be pompous fools who deserves the respect they give which is none.
Moderates are not republicans
So now the obviously partisan far-right who hate and vilify anybody who disagrees with them, and who think Obama is an "eilitist ass hat", are a "majority"? That most Americans see nothing wrong with being rude and obnoxious to First Ladies? No, fortunately, that represents a tiny minority of Americans.

I love it when republicans try to justify obnoxious, classless behaviour.

A politician was booed ... Shocker!!!
There are 10 kinds of people who understand binary: Those that do, and those that do not.
