According to the last numbers I looked at, we are at our lowest point in military manning. The National Guard was designed for homeland defense, call-up to active duty and die in some other country for reasons of "national interest". Yes, I understand we have those interests, but why must we run to everyone else's defense or aid, and turn a blind eye to what's occuring in our own backyards? We are stretched so thin right now, borrowing against what we just borrowed, and very likely will, or have lost, our "status". Where is the check and balance to the office of president?
We have elected officials to represent us in Washington, yet their track records indicate they are more interested in themselves than their constituents! Where is the check and balance for Congress?
The government was designed to be for, of and by the People -- that means each and every US citizen. With the narcistic attitude prevalent in society today, we'll be lucky to be able to turn these trends around.
Sorry, got on a roll.....
