President Looking Out For Staff and Congress

It is good to know that the President is looking out for the government workers, both on his staff and in congress.

Obama Orders Pay Raise for Biden, Members of Congress, Federal Workers | The Weekly Standard

While the rest of America is told that we are running out of money and need to finance more so that bills can be paid. The President has done

And if one does not believe the weekly standard, then look at this
    http://www.opm.gov/oca/compmemo/2012/2013PAY_Attach.pdf

It is always good to see that while Americans have to deal with less, Congress and The White House will be getting more.

Why didn't the Tea Party or the conservatives try to stop this. Aren't they supposed to be against any new Gov. spending?

What does all that have to do with Congress taking a pay raise... Wasn't it the Tea Party that said they would not accept any increase in spending unless it was paid for first. So how do they expect to pay for these raises. A president can not just give across the board pay raises. It has to be approved by the Congress and Senate. Is that not hypocrisy from both sides of the isle. This wasn't reported form either the left or right wing media.

Because there are only about 40 Tea Party Conservatives in the Congress.

No, they have set it up to where it goes into effect automatically unless Congress specifically votes against it.

That would be enough to make enough public noise about it to stop it. I doubt they will though.

Re: President Looking Out For Staff and Congress

Some have asked the question as to why has Congress not done some thing about this?

Here would be a few of my answers to that question.
    A) Why would Congress vote to remove a pay raise?
    B) When was the last time that Congress voted to over turn a Presidential Executive Order?

Congress has voted time after time to up their pay , even in the past when people have called to counter the vote, but they still found a way of increasing the pay.

To the best of my knowledge Congress has NEVER voted to over turn or vote down or kill a Presidential Executive Order... if one knows of one please share with the rest of the class as we would like to know.
